Local economy
In Drachten and its surroundings you'll find more than 2200 companies. Thanks to the central situation of Drachten in the north and the perfect infrastructure the local economy grows steadily. The variety in trade and industry is strong. There are big industrial plants (i.e. Philips, Neopost, Fenner Dunlop). But branches of industry like business, service providing, transport and logistics and ICT are very well represented too.
