The distance from the capital Amsterdam to Drachten is 150 kilometres (approximately 1½ hours by car). Groningen, the biggest town in northern Netherlands, is less than half an hour's drive to the east. There are easy road connections to Schiphol airport (about 1 hour 15 minutes) and Eelde airport (less than half an hour's drive). Drachten has an airstrip, which is mostly used by small (sport)planes.
Route to townhall:
From the direction of Zwolle/Heerenveen:
On the A7 take exit 29, Drachten/De Haven industrial estate. At the second set of traffic lights (at the BP petrol station) turn right.*
From the direction of Leeuwarden:
From the N31 take the exit Drachten/Nijtap. Continue to follow the Noorderhogeweg. Before the BP petrol station, turn left*
From the direction of Groningen:
On the A7 take exit 29, Drachten/De Haven industrial estate. On the Zuiderhogeweg, turn right at the second set of traffic lights (at the BP petrol station).*
From the direction of Emmen/Assen:
From the N31 go onto the A7 again in the direction of
Heerenveen. Then take the next exit: Drachten/De Haven. At the second set of traffic lights (at the BP petrol station) turn right.*
